Mental Health/Substance Abuse

Many individuals with brain injury struggle with mental health issues such as depression and/or substance use. Some become caught up in the justice system. Individuals with these complex needs often face barriers in getting the services they need.

The Toronto ABI Network is active in the Toronto Regional Human Service and Justice Coordinating Committee (T- HSJCC). The committee has developed a service resolution process that brings the ABI, addiction, mental health and criminal justice sectors to a common table to create personalized solutions for individuals with these complex needs.

As part of a pilot program, a part-time coordinator is providing additional support to the service resolution process. Rhona Zitney, Service Resolution Justice Coordinator can be reached at 416-482-4103 ext. 381 or by e-mail.
