2014 ABI Conference – open for registrations!

Register now for the Toronto ABI Network Conference being held on November 20-21, 2014 at the Allstream Centre, Exhibition Place in Toronto.

Keynote speakers for the 2014 conference:

  • Dr. Marc G. Berman, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago. His research has shown that spending time with nature refreshes our brain, improving attention and memory performance. He has been cited in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the New Yorker Magazine and the Boston Glove as well as other media and news outlets. 
  • Dr. Robin Green, is a senior scientist in Cognitive Rehabilitation Neurosciences at Toronto Rehab and a Canada Research Chair (II) in traumatic brain injury. Her research addresses mechanisms of recovery from TBI, in particular impediments to recovery. 
  • Dr. James Malec, Professor and Research Director at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He has been active in research and the clinical practice of brain injury rehabilitation for over 35 years. With over 140 peer-reviewed publications as well as other professional publications, Dr. Malec continues to conduct research in brain rehabilitation and outcome measurement. 
  • Ian McCallum, father of a brain injury survivor and author of From Grave to Cradle to Now – the Healthcare Professional Edition, will share his experience “from the other side of a supposedly fatally brain injured child’s bed”.

The Conference will also include: hands-on workshops; podium and poster presentations on innovative research and evidence-based practice for ABI; and a networking wine and cheese reception.

This popular national bi-annual conference attracts participants from across the ABI community, including service providers, legal representatives, individuals living with the effects of an ABI and their caregivers.
