New concussion tool now available

A new Concussion Tool to support educators and coaches in school settings is now available on the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Concussion Portal.

Developed with funding from the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, the Concussion Tool provides information on the symptoms and signs of a concussion and what to do when a student is suspected of sustaining a concussion.

The tool also offers detailed guidelines to help educators and coaches support students who are recovering from a concussion.  This includes steps to help a student return to his/her learning activities at school, as well as steps for returning to physical activity.

The Concussion Tool was reviewed by the Parachute/ThinkFirst Canada Concussion Education and Awareness Committee and the Recognition and Awareness Working Group (part of the mTBI/Concussion Strategy of the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation).
